Works Program Update 2020 — 2021
Since 2008, the Works Program has made a difference in the Playford Alive community by building capacity and generating economic development through training and employment.
Economic outcomes are delivered through employment and work experience opportunities in Renewal SA-managed contracts and engagement, training, and employment programs in partnership with registered training organisations.
Some of the Playford Alive Works Program achievements during 2020-2021 include fulfilling:
- 30 Accredited training places
- 30 Training program work experience placements
- 4 Traineeships/apprenticeships (3 in bricklaying and 1 in landscaping)
Highlights included the Work Program’s Bricklaying Pre-Apprenticeship Program run in association with the Playford Women’s Shed, a community organisation operated by volunteers. As a part of the Bricklaying program, the participants built a brick BBQ and four raised garden beds for use by the Women’s Shed for gardening, with the intent to establish a vegetable patch to be used by the community.
