More than $13,000 has been awarded to three community organisations at Playford Alive as part of this year’s Playford Alive Initiatives Fund (PAIF) annual grant round.

Since its establishment in 2009, the Playford Alive Initiatives Fund - with help from its partners Renewal SA, The City of Playford and SA Housing Trust - has awarded close to $837,000 to projects that make a positive difference to the Playford Alive Community.

Last night, Wednesday 23 October, we celebrated this year's grants recipients at the Stretton Centre. Check out the photos further below.

This year’s grant recipients include:

Playford Uniting Church

The Playford Uniting Church plays a positive role in building community in Playford Alive and has been successful in securing funding towards the annual WonderFULL Christmas Festival 2024.

The festival has been an enormous success, now in its seventh year, it is a free, family friendly event for all ages of the Playford Alive community to gather and connect around food, music, and activities. It has become a highly anticipated annual local event. Last year approximately 1600 people attended.

Community Matters Playford Inc

Established in 2020, Community Matters Playford Inc is a local community group that aims to empower the community or advocate on their behalf to address relevant concerns in the local area.

This year grant funding will support the Playford Santa Lolly Run and will spread joy throughout the Playford Alive area during the first two weeks of December. Santa will make his way around the Playford Alive community, handing out festive, packaged lollies to bring holiday cheer and celebrate the Christmas spirit

Women’s Safety Services SA

Women’s Safety Services SA offer a 30-day intensive support accommodation program for women and children fleeing domestic and family violence. During the 30 days, case managers work with the women towards their life domains, whilst providing domestic violence education and linking them into support services. They assist with teaching basic life skills, advocating for support for their clients and providing support to children.

The grant funds will be spent improving their Crisis Accommodation Program, including removing garden beds and replacing with a child safe environment for the young people coming through the program. The plan is to update the bark chip area, install a sandpit, cubby house, sensory wall along the building; add furniture for parents and support workers to safely watch the children. The installation of a sunshade will also be included to provide a sun safe environment.

The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund allocates $25,000 in grant funding per annum – $15,000 of which is distributed through an annual call.

Grants for under $2,500 are open all year round.
