A total of $9,240.85 in funding was awarded to local community groups for various community initiatives. Congratulations to the below organisations who will be supported in making a positive contribution to the Playford Alive community.

This year’s funding recipients were:

The Playford Men’s Shed – Book Libraries and Mud Kitchens

The Playford Men’s Shed has provided a place for men to gather socially since 2014. The group fosters improvement in health and wellbeing through work on personal and community projects, fundraising BBQs, social outings and providing resources and a safe and supportive environment to just talk. Grant funding will be used to purchase timber and materials to build book libraries and mud kitchens for local schools and charities.

The Playford Christmas Pageant – Santa Sleigh Float

The Playford Christmas Pageant is organised and run by a very dedicated and hard-working group of volunteers who care deeply for their community. The first pageant was held in 2003 and the event has grown over the years with community groups and businesses participating. Grant funding will be used to renovate Santa’s sleigh float for use in the pageant and be hired out to the community to assist with other events.

The Playford Uniting Church – WonderFULL Christmas

The Playford Uniting Church plays a role in building community in Playford Alive. Funding will be contributing to the annual WonderFULL Christmas Festival. The Festival has been a success for many years as a free, family friendly event for all ages of the Playford community to gather and connect around food, music, and activities.

The Munno Para Little Athletics Club

Little Athletics encourages children of all abilities to have a positive attitude and healthy lifestyle through community involvement in athletic activities and friendly competition. Grant funding will be used to purchase a marquee to provide additional shelter for athletes when they compete at sports carnivals throughout the year, a new BBQ and power source for their athletic meets and events.

Since the fund was established in 2009, close to $800,000 (inc. GST) has been provided to benefit the Playford Alive community. The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund helps organisations to grow and supports projects that make a positive contribution to the community.
