Last call for local heroes to be recognised by the community
July 23, 2018
Playford Alive is calling for the community to recognise their local heroes – with last call for nominations for the Local Heroes Awards.
General Manager Property, Mark Devine said this is a great way to recognise hard-working people that give back to their local community, the unsung heroes that may often go unrecognised.
“The Awards are open to individuals, groups and organisations to acknowledge their commitment to the successful development of Playford Alive through community, training and employment initiatives,” he said.
“This can be achieved through volunteering or providing services that contribute to the enhancement of the Playford Alive community.”
There are five award categories that recognise outstanding members of the community including individuals (youth and adult), businesses, community organisations and training providers.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty encourages the community to get involved and recognise their local hero.
“Many individuals, groups and organisations actively participate in the community, donating their time, skills and contribute to the goodwill of the community, making Playford Alive a wonderful place to live, work and play,” Mayor Docherty said.
“It’s time to recognise these community members. Last year’s Awards were hotly contested and I look forward to receiving another lot of quality applications from a variety of individuals and organisation that benefit the Playford Alive community.”
The Playford Alive Local Heroes Awards recognise community and business achievements in the Playford Alive project area (Smithfield Plains, Davoren Park, Munno Para, Andrews Farm and Eyre) who are actively involved in giving back to their community.
Submissions will be evaluated by the Playford Alive Initiatives Fund Board, which comprises representatives from Renewal SA, the South Australian Housing Authority and the City of Playford.
