2016 Initiatives Fund recipients
On 24 October 2016, a total of $19,725 in funding was awarded to six local community groups for various community initiatives.
Funding recipients and amounts awarded were:
Northern Communities of Hope – Lunch Time Games and Activities: $3,000
This grant will enable Northern Communities of Hope to expand and extend the current range of larger scale games, craft supplies, construction toys, outdoor game resources and Lego.
Northern Communities of Hope – Davoren Park Youth Outreach: $5,000
This funding will see the purchase of equipment and resources for ongoing programs, subsidise events and activities, fund mentoring camps, workshop facilitation, volunteer training plus administration costs.
Northern Area Community & Youth Services (NACYS) Incorporated: $3,200
This money will enable NACYs to create a new community space with art materials and plants in the walkway between Swallowcliffe Primary School and the NACYs site.
Habitat for Humanity Australia SA – Habitat Shed Construction Supplies Management Project: $3,200
This project is an innovative program designed to engage disadvantaged youth, long term unemployed, disengaged community members and people from culturally diverse backgrounds. The funding will allow not only engagement, training, education and work experience opportunities, it will assist in the purchase of equipment.
Coo-Inda Over 50s Club – Operation Cart Away: $325
To purchase a catering trolley to assist with set up of weekly meetings to carry the urn, cups, coffee, tea and the Bingo Machine from the storage area to the meeting room.
Therapeutic Dog Services Incorporated – Dog Assisted Intervention Wellness and Be Active Program: $5,000
To promote human health and wellbeing with animal assisted intervention and to conduct educational training and wellness programs in conjunction with the Wellness and Be Active Program.
